STONEHAVEN MEDICAL GROUP
Mental Health Nurse Practitioner - Part Time
Start date August 2025
We are looking for a skilled and compassionate Mental Health Practitioner to join our diverse Primary Care team. This is an exciting opportunity to work at the frontline of mental health care, embedded within a GP Practice. You’ll be supporting patients with mild to moderate mental health needs, helping to bridge the gap between general practice and secondary care.
What You Will Do
* Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments for patients
* Provide short-term, goal-focused support and brief interventions for a range of common mental health difficulties (e.g. anxiety, depression, emotional distress).
* Offer clinical advice and guidance to the primary care team on mental health presentations.
* Collaborate with a range of services including Psychology, CMHT, third sector and voluntary services to ensure appropriate care pathways.
* Support mental health promotion and early intervention initiatives within the Practice.
Who are we looking for?
* A qualified mental health professional registered with a relevant professional body. You should have experience working with people experiencing mental health difficulties and feel confident working independently in a fast-paced primary care setting.
* Experience working in primary care or early intervention is desirable, but not essential – we will support the right candidate to adapt and thrive in this environment.
* A friendly and caring colleague who will fit well into our Practice family.
Who are we?
We are a well organised and very welcoming Practice in the North East of Scotland who are looking to enhance our existing clinical work force to provide much needed mental health support to our patients.
What can we offer you at Stonehaven?
* Mentorship from Stonehaven Medical Group for the duration of employment.
* We have successfully supported several ACPs complete academic qualifications in respective roles.
* Supportive environment to gain new skills in General Practice especially when moving from other health care specialties.
A visit to Stonehaven is highly encouraged. We would be delighted to show you around Stonehaven and the GP Surgery. We would be happy to discuss workload, annual leave entitlement, appointment templates, IT system, etc.
Please note: This is not a Community Mental Health Nurse (CMHN) role. It does not involve the management of complex, long-term caseloads typically associated with secondary care services.
Informal enquiries can be made to Dr Lynn McGurran (lynn.mcgurran@nhs.scot ) or Jackie Paul (jackie.paul@nhs.scot )
Closing date: 5th July 2025 - We reserve the right to review applications and interview before the closing date
