About the Role
:
We’re looking for a skilled Commercial Gas Engineer to carry out servicing, PPMs, breakdowns, and minor repairs on commercial plant rooms across NHS sites in Kent and Medway. You’ll work within a supportive engineering and management team based in Maidstone. You will be liaising with Facilities Managers, Gas Qualified Supervisor & NHS Estates Managers to ensure compliance and safe operation of all systems within the buildings.
You will deliver exceptional service to our designated clients. The role involves carrying out gas servicing, repairs, and breakdown work to ensure the smooth operational performance of our managed contracts. You will also be responsible for completing planned preventative maintenance (PPM) tasks according to schedule and supporting minor project works as required.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Testing equipment and appliances to ensure that they function and meet safety standards.
2. Repair using problem-solving to address the issue.
3. Instruct Customers: Gas Engineers directly interact with customers and instruct customers on how to use their appliances correctly.
4. Install gas appliances.
5. assess risk and follow all safety regulations.
6. Utilise the proper materials to make sure that the job can be completed properly.
7. All work areas must be kept orderly to ensure the safety of yourself and customer.
8. Gas safety checks, gas network tests.
9. Compiling assets lists, condition reports.
10. Compiling quotes for extra works.
11. Repairing or replacing other Plant - i.e. Pumps, pipe work, tanks, FCUs, sinks, taps, actuators & valves.
Key Criteria
12. Domestic & Commercial Gas ACS
13. Hold CCN1, COCN1, CIGA1, ICPN1, TPCP1/TPCP1A qualifications
14. Construction site safety knowledge
15. Proven experience as a commercial gas engineer
16. Experience in domestic boiler servicing, fault diagnosis, and installation
17. Good understanding of electrical safe isolation and basic wiring principles
18. Knowledge of current gas safety legislation and compliance standards
19. Excellent communication skills with a customer-focused approach
20. Ability to work independently and as part of a team
21. Comfortable using handheld devices or digital job management systems
22. Strong attention to detail and commitment to safe working practices
23. Flexible and willing to travel across Kent
24. Full UK driving licence
