Neway International are seeking a Social Worker – Fostering Team (Kingston & Richmond) to join our client Achieving for Children within Joint Services.

Location: Guildhall Complex, Kingston upon Thames

Hours: 36 per week


About the Client

Achieving for Children (AfC) delivers high‑quality children’s services across Kingston and Richmond, with a strong commitment to relational, strengths‑based practice. The Fostering Team provides a full range of fostering services, supporting carers and ensuring children achieve safe, stable, and permanent outcomes. AfC works within the Signs of Safety framework, placing emphasis on Signs of Belonging and reflective peer supervision.


The Role

The Social Worker will work as part of the fostering service, supporting recruitment, assessment, training, supervision, and ongoing support for foster carers. The role includes completing Form F, Form C, Special Guardianship assessments, viability assessments, and supervising Regulation 24 arrangements. You will contribute to permanency planning, duty services, carer engagement, and out‑of‑hours support where required.

This role is based at Guildhall 2, Kingston upon Thames, with a requirement to be in the office 2–3 days per week. Team meetings may take place at Moor Lane or Guildhall fortnightly, with monthly in‑person peer supervision.


Key Responsibilities

* Deliver the full range of fostering services, including recruitment, assessment, training, and supervision of foster carers.
* Complete Form F, Form C, Special Guardianship, and viability assessments to a high standard.
* Support the safe placement of children and contribute to permanency planning.
* Provide duty services and participate in out‑of‑hours support as required.
* Supervise Regulation 24 arrangements and ensure compliance with statutory requirements.
* Work within the Signs of Safety and Signs of Belonging frameworks.
* Engage in carer development activities, including training and support groups.
* Maintain accurate, timely case records and reports in line with AfC policies.
* Participate in team meetings, peer supervision, and reflective practice sessions.
* Work collaboratively with internal and external partners to support positive outcomes for children.
* Ensure practice aligns with Social Work England standards and AfC policies.


Candidate Requirements

* Professional Social Work qualification (DipSW, BA/BSc/MA Social Work, CQSW) and Social Work England registration.
* Minimum 3 years’ post‑qualifying experience (essential).
* Completion of ASYE (essential).
* Substantial experience in child care social work, including fostering and looked‑after children.
* Comprehensive knowledge of the statutory framework for fostering and post‑order services.
* Experience working with foster carers or supported lodgings carers (desirable).
* Ability to work from the office 2–3 days per week (essential).
* Strong assessment, analytical, and report‑writing skills.
* Confident working within a strengths‑based practice model.
* Ability to work flexibly and meet service deadlines.
