We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced band 5 nurse to join our friendly Surgical Oncology Outpatients team. We cover ENT, Head and Neck, Thoracic, Breast surgery, and Gynaecology outpatient clinics. Within these, we support specialist services such as a laryngology procedure clinic, tracheostomy care clinic, and micro-suction clinic. We also run a nurse-led dressings clinic.
The role requires lots of interaction with the multidisciplinary team and close working with Clinical Nurse Specialists, Nurse Practitioners and Surgeons, providing a wide range of exposure and learning opportunities.
We are looking for a versatile and adaptable candidate that can apply themselves to be trained across the specialities of our clinics. Good communication skills are essential within this role.
Informal visits are strongly encouraged.

Main duties of the job
- Managing patient flow and safety in clinical areas
- Wound care and specialised dressings complex post-op head and neck dressings, BAHA dressings
- Allergy testing
- Managing admissions and unwell patients in clinics
- Supporting specialist clinics including head and neck biopsy clinics, gynaecology procedure clinics, and laryngology procedure clinics.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Responsible for supporting clinical outpatient areas, ensuring the delivery of high quality, current evidence-based nursing.
You will be expected to apply knowledge across the range of
work procedures and practices, underpinned by theoretical knowledge and practical experience.
To liaise with the multidisciplinary team and act as your patient's advocate to achieve person-centred individualised care.
To ensure that patients’ receive high quality clinical care and a positive
patient experience.
Carry out thorough assessments and implement personalised care plans.
Carry out nursing procedures and treatments, whilst
maintaining best practice and the highest possible standards.
Responsible for managing unwell patients in an outpatient area when patients are being admitted from clinics.
To have an awareness of psycho-social factors that may be affecting patients attending oncology clinics.
