Performs a number of healthcare science clinical/technical/scientific activities under supervision, e.g. performs standard biochemical/haematological tests. Maintains clinical records in relation to activities carried out; may input/interrogate test results of others. May be required to supervise, organise and allocate work and/or train less experienced staff in own area. To work flexibly in reflection of service needs which may include an extended working day and/or participation in delivery of a 24 hour, 7 days per week service. The work of the service involves contact with human body fluids, tissues and hazardous chemicals, including blood, pus, urine, faeces, and respiratory secretions. Maintain and promote the professional image of the pathology department.
We are looking for a motivated and hardworking individual to work in the Blood Sciences department at Ipswich Hospital. You should be confident, conscientious, enthusiastic, and capable of careful and accurate work. Requirements include:
* Foundation degree or equivalent, although not essential
* High level of accuracy and attention to detail
* Experience working in an NHS biomedical science laboratory
* Ability to multi-task, work well under pressure, and work flexibly
* Willingness to participate in out-of-hours service
You will receive training and supervision while working towards the required competencies to provide a safe and quality service for patients.
