Primary Function: Maintains a clean, safe, orderly, and attractive environment throughout all hospital departments, patient areas, offices, corridors, and other hospital-controlled areas following hospital cleaning and disinfection standards. Responsibilities include removing waste and linen, completing room cleaning discharges, daily cleaning, and terminal cleaning of operating rooms. Housekeepers will also interact regularly with staff and patients and collaborate with other environmental services team members. This position may also assist the transport department by moving patients and specimens throughout the hospital.
Responsibilities
* Clean patient rooms and maintain all areas on the nursing unit, including bed-making support for unoccupied beds, disposal of needle boxes, emptying laundry hampers, and ensuring corridors are clear.
* Transport patients by wheelchair, stretcher, or bed within the hospital. Assist patients into and out of vehicles during discharges or transfers. Place equipment in vehicles as needed. Transport deceased patients to the hospital morgue as required.
* Deliver laboratory specimens, x-rays, lab reports, telephone requests, stock requisitions, and other items necessary to support nursing units.
* Move and clean medical equipment on wheels, such as hospital beds, carts, and chairs. Transport medical equipment to discharge locations. Maintain cleanliness and safety of equipment and supplies, reporting any maintenance issues.
* Clean, wash, mop, vacuum, and disinfect discharge rooms for new admissions.
* Maintain inventory and prepare orders for non-stock items on the nursing unit.
* Assist in training new employees on procedures, policies, and regulations.
* Address and meet patient non-clinical needs as required.
* Perform all other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications and Specifications: A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
