Position overview
Full Time, Fixed Term – 18 months. We are looking to appoint a Project Engineer to join our Planned Maintenance service, to work within the team to deliver on Fire Risk Assessment actions and maintenance programmes of work as well as other Fire related areas within social housing.
Key responsibilities
* Contract management and compliance on multiple streams of work, including fire alarm systems, emergency lighting, door entry, warden call systems, fire doors, compartmentation and communal electrical testing & rewires.
* Deliver fire safety works generated from external fire risk assessments within social housing.
* Monitor contracts to ensure consistent high standards and best value for money.
* Assist in procuring contracts, working with local authority procurement and legal teams, writing specifications, contract documents and necessary reports.
* Manage budgets with accurate data and present to line manager for reporting.
* Ensure compliance with Health and Safety, CDM regulations for in‑house and external contractors.
* Maintain understanding of fire safety compliance and the importance of the golden thread of information.
Qualifications and experience
* Relevant recognised engineering qualification equivalent to Degree or HNC standard in Construction / Electrical / Fire Safety engineering, building services and/or extensive practical relevant experience.
* Membership of a professional body.
* Experience and/or qualifications in the Construction/Electrical/Fire Safety industry, with a Level 4 qualification in a related engineering background recommended.
* Strong contract management skills and ability to build good work relationships with contractors and internal workforce.
