About the role
Title – Security Officer
Pay Rate – £12.71ph
Location – Weston-super-Mare
Shift Timings – Days & Nights, 4 on 4 off, 12-hour shifts (06:00–18:00 / 18:00–06:00)
You will be working in a site-based role within the public sector, where officers are responsible for ensuring the safety and security of both staff and visitors.
Your main responsibilities may include:

Provide a polite, friendly, and professional support service.
·
Manage and reconcile cash handling in line with procedures.
·
Deliver duties in line with SLAs, policies, and risk assessments.
·
Provide a comprehensive security and car parking service.
·
Follow all policies, procedures, and complete required training.
·
Support and guide new starters in duties and practices.
·
Maintain accurate records in line with required standards.
·
Use equipment correctly and report any faults.
·
Maintain strict confidentiality at all times.
·
Comply with all legal, health & safety, and environmental regulations..
To succeed in this role, you will need the following:
Valid frontline SIA licence.
Valid First Aid qualification.
Good IT skills.
Strong management and leadership abilities.
Knowledge of SIA licensing requirements.
Confident working in a govt environment.
5-year checkable work/career history.

Able to communicate effectively with a wide range of people, including those with mental health conditions.

Strong communication skills at all levels, including de-escalation in challenging situations.
·
Knowledge of public safety, security procedures, and relevant legislation (or willingness to learn).
·
Ability to work under pressure, both independently and as part of a team.
·
Maintain confidentiality of all staff, and visitor information.
·
Understanding standard procedures, including manual handling, infection control, and health & safety.
·
Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workload.
·
Ability to lead or support projects and day-to-day team activities.
