About the team:
Our engineering teams at Farnborough support multiple programmes, where we build bespoke engineering solutions for defence and civil applications, via contracts with industry partners and customers. As an example, this includes us maintaining, upgrading and operating a 5m Wind Tunnel, where aircraft models and components are tested. Control systems are at the heart of its functionality and performance.
This is an opportunity to join the teams at Farnborough through a Degree Apprentice, building experience whilst learning; as part of your journey, you will work as part of a team, supporting technical programmes with:
* Design and build of electronic boxes
* Design of new instrumentation and control systems
* Integration of instrumentation and computing systems
* Set up of control loops eg, involving programmable logic controllers, National Instruments cards and Labview
* System installation, maintenance and upgrade
* Trouble shooting and fault diagnosis
* Use/set up databases, tracking and monitoring tools
* Support multi-disciplinary engineering activities
* Documenting and recording processes and equipment status.
What will I be doing?
As an apprentice you will learn and obtain experience across electronics, instrumentation and control systems. This includes studying at Warwick University, with blending learning with some time on campus, alongside online teaching and workplace activities. Except when required to be at Warwick University, you will need to be present on site in Farnborough.
If your applied learning includes WindTunnel Test activity, you may be required to work standard days between test runs, and move to week-alternating shifts (0600-1430 or 1400-2230) during extended testing, subject to review for young workers.
Additional compensation for shift working is provided.

Academic requirements:
You must have obtained or be predicted:
* A minimum of 112 tariff points this must include A Level Maths and Physics at Grade B or above.
* Must also have obtained GCSE grades in Maths, English Language and additional STEM subject at grades 4 (C) or above.

The curriculum will be delivered through a blended learning approach which will involve some time on campus, alongside online teaching (both live and recorded) and workplace activities. Time on campus will be for activity-designed, problem-solving sessions where you will get hands-on and interact with peers and teaching staff.
Expenses for the apprenticeship will be funded inline with the expenses policy.
