6 Month Fixed Term Contract from June to December 2026. Band 7 - Senior Mental Health Practitioner 30 hours per week. This role is based with the Worthing team of the Sussex Early Intervention Psychosis (EIP) service. The Sussex EIP service delivers care and treatment to young people and adults aged 14‑65 experiencing a first episode of psychosis, working to reduce distress, promote recovery, and support social inclusion.
The Early Intervention service is an integral part of the Specialist division, operating across six teams in Sussex. The successful candidate will develop a caseload of EIP patients and partner with multidisciplinary professionals to facilitate rapid treatment plans.
Responsibilities
* Provide day‑to‑day clinical leadership and specialist advice to ensure the needs of the patient group are addressed promptly.
* Promote a safe, positive working environment and challenge any negative attitudes or behaviours.
* Deliver clinical supervision to staff in line with the Trust’s supervision policy.
* Support clinicians in managing complex cases, reducing risk where possible.
* Carry a caseload of Early Intervention in Psychosis patients as part of a multidisciplinary team.
* Collaborate with the leadership team to contribute to service improvement and development, playing a key role in implementing change.
* Conduct comprehensive assessments of mental health for patients presenting with a first episode of psychosis.
* Manage a caseload of clients with complex mental health needs and undertake case management/lead professional tasks as required.
* Communicate with and meet the needs of families and carers in a compassionate, person‑centred manner.
* Work in partnership with other agencies to achieve the best person‑centred outcomes.
Qualifications
* Registered Nurse with current registration (mental health / learning disability / adult) or Registered Health Practitioner (AHP or SW) appropriate to the job role.
* Current UK professional registration.
* Degree or diploma level training supplemented by specialist qualification or coursework up to masters level relevant to the care group.
* Evidence of continued professional development.
* Extensive and recent experience within an EIP clinical setting.
* Broad experience working with clients across a range of mental health problems.
* Experience of multidisciplinary working.
* Experience of supervising staff and students.
* Experience as a Care Coordinator.
* Good knowledge and understanding of national policy relating to psychosis, its treatment and management.
* Experience of working in lead or management roles.
