Salary: £80-95,000 DOE
Gresham Hunt are partnered with a specialist IP law firm who are seeking an experienced Patent Attorney for their London office.
Responsibilities:
* Conduct patentability searches and analysis to assess the novelty and inventiveness of inventions.
* Draft patent applications in accordance with UK and European patent laws and regulations, ensuring accuracy and completeness of technical specifications and claims.
* Prosecute patent applications before the UKIPO and the EPO, including responding to office actions, attending hearings, and advocating for the granting of patents.
* Provide strategic advice to clients on patent portfolio management, including patent filing strategies, patent enforcement, and infringement analysis.
* Conduct freedom-to-operate searches and provide opinions on patent validity and infringement issues.
* Assist clients in licensing negotiations and drafting patent licensing agreements.
* Conduct intellectual property due diligence in mergers, acquisitions, and technology transactions.
* Stay abreast of developments in patent law and practice, including changes in legislation and case law, and provide internal training and updates to colleagues.
* Collaborate with other members of the intellectual property team, including solicitors and trademark attorneys, to provide integrated legal solutions to clients.
* Represent clients in patent disputes, including infringement litigation and opposition proceedings before the UKIPO and the EPO, as necessary.
Qualifications:
* 3-5 years experiences as UK or European Qualified Patent Attorney
* Education background in a relevant technical field, such as engineering, physics, chemistry, or biotechnology.
* Strong technical expertise and the ability to understand and analyse complex inventions across various technical disciplines.
* Proven experience in drafting and prosecuting patent applications before the UKIPO and/or the EPO.
* Experience in patent litigation and/or opposition proceedings is desirable but not essential.
* Proficiency in using patent databases and other relevant software tools.
