We have a fantastic opportunity for a Consultant Practitioner Planning Engineer on our Project Controls Resource Framework, to be involved in the exciting challenge of defueling and decommissioning of a nuclear power station.
This is a first of a kind endeavour in the UK. As a Planning Engineer, you will be a fundamental part of our Project Controls team, responsible for providing planning support and working with Project Managers to develop and manage schedules to incorporate risk, change, resource requirements, and cost.
Location & Working Pattern
* Based in Kent
* Client mandates the OPW also be based in Kent
* Expected to attend site 4 days per week
* This role is mandated as Inside IR35 as per Client requirements
* Contract Length: Initially 6 Months
Key Areas of Work
* Develop, control, monitor, analyse and report on schedule related aspects for designated projects within a portfolio
* Establish and monitor a cost and resource loaded, logic linked, baseline plan for the project in accordance with Our Client's processes
* Capture project budgetary costs and resources in the plan to determine time phasing of expenditure and the total project budget
* Establish robust Work Breakdown and Project Control Structures in terms of project scope
* Maintain and control project baselines in line with company procedures and guidance, challenging schedule and cost variances against the baseline plan
* Lead on EVM methodology and practice within the project
* Facilitate acceptance of and ensure that the project plan embraces the full project work scope, is fit for purpose and is achievable
* Regular interfacing and integration with the project controls team to maintain an aligned financial position with the Project Plan
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
* Primavera (P6) trained and experienced
* Experience in building cost and resource loaded plans
* Experience / understanding of Earned Value Analysis
* High level of numeracy and excellent analytical skills
* Experience / understanding in the interpretation of estimating, scheduling, programming and risk tools
* Relevant experience in Project Controls and/or Project Delivery, preferably in a highly regulated environment
* HNC/HND, degree qualified or experience in a cost related discipline is desirable
