Finance Manager - Charity Sector

Hays Senior Finance is partnering with Cobalt Medical, seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Finance Manager to lead our Finance Team and ensure the smooth running of our financial operations. This is a pivotal role within the organisation, offering the opportunity to make a real impact in a respected charity that delivers vital services to the community.
About the Role
As Finance Manager, you will be responsible for:
1. Overseeing the production of monthly management accounts and year-end statutory accounts.
2. Leading the development of accounting systems, controls, and reporting frameworks.
3. Supporting operational teams with integrated business solutions.
4. Ensuring regulatory returns are completed accurately and on time.
5. Managing and developing the Finance Team, fostering a culture of high standards and continuous improvement.
6. Deputising for the Finance Director when required, including attending SMT and Board meetings.
Key Responsibilities
7. Line management of the Finance Team, including performance reviews and wellbeing support.
8. Maintenance of accurate accounting records and systems.
9. Preparation of audit files and SORP-compliant statutory accounts.
10. Oversight of financial controls, reconciliations, and regulatory compliance.
11. Support for budgeting, pricing reviews, and financial modelling.
12. Liaison with auditors, insurers, bankers, and other key stakeholders.
13. Attendance at Finance Committee meetings, including report preparation and minute-taking.
What We're Looking For
14. A qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with proven experience in financial leadership.
15. Strong understanding of charity finance, including SORP and Gift Aid.
16. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage across all levels.
17. Experience in managing and developing teams.
18. Proficiency in financial systems and reporting tools.
19. A proactive, solutions-focused approach with a commitment to continuous improvement.
