Project Manager
Hours : Monday to Friday 8.30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Salary : £40-50K depending on experience
Location : Office based role. Outskirts of Colchester CO7 area (own transport required)
The above position has arisen in a growing business who engineer and supply high value equipment to the UK market - industry, offshore, commercial shipping and the navy. The company is currently working on a number of high-profile projects, for which they are looking to recruit a dedicated team player in the position of Project Manager to manage current and future projects.
As part of the Project Engineering team, you will be working on various aspects of projects within the business, your tasks will include, but not be limited to:
· Establish and maintain relationships with appropriate stakeholders, providing day-to-day contact on project status and changes.
· Taking on full project responsibility from contract kick off through to final customer handover.
· Working closely with the Project Design Engineers to produce detailed technical documentation to tight deadlines in line with contract requirements.
· Producing and maintaining detailed project plans, ensuring suitable resource is allocated within the project lifecycle.
· Participation in internal project review meetings, chairing for own projects.
· Providing bi-weekly reporting to the Project Department Lead on project progress.
· Being the point of contact for customer and supplier enquiries / correspondence in relation to owned projects.
· Being forward thinking and willing/able to suggest new ways of working to improve efficiency.
· Be available and willing to attend customer meetings and training, including travel to the head office in Germany as required (UK based role).
· Support the business in all aspects of projects being undertaken as required.
· Any other areas associated with projects or special packages requiring input that maybe required to support the business.
The successful candidate will require the following: (highlighted points are essential)
* Engineering background with a formal engineering qualification and experience is essential – this is due to the technical documentation the potential candidate will be working through on this role (it will be vast). Must have a good mechanical engineering appreciation.
* Due to the clients they work with, candidates must be able to pass security clearance – must be a UK National to be able to pass – this is a condition that our clients put any of our staff members through if they are working on the project.
* This will be a customer facing role, and experience (and confidence) with dealing with customers one on one and face to face would be hugely desirable.
* Led projects from start to finish.
* Managed customer contracts and the ability to go through and understand the T&C’s from our clients.
* Candidate must be aware that this is a office based role and hybrid and remote will not be considered – this is due to some of the projects taking place in a workshop, the candidate will be required at the office.
* Project management experience is essential. PRINCE2 / APM advantageous
* Computer literate and familiar with Microsoft 365, Word, Excel, Project ,etc
