Job Title: Electrical, Control & Instrumentation (EC&I) Technician
Location: Runcorn
Working Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday
Salary: £47,239 per year + annual bonus scheme + benefits
Role Overview
An opportunity has arisen for an EC&I Technician to join a team operating at the forefront of energy recovery and waste transformation. This position plays a vital role in ensuring the reliable, safe, and efficient performance of a large-scale Energy Recovery Facility (ERF), helping support national sustainability and climate goals by converting waste into energy.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on all Electrical, Control & Instrumentation (EC&I) equipment across the facility.
Diagnose faults and implement corrective actions to ensure plant reliability and availability.
Contribute to and deliver improvement projects that enhance plant performance and reduce operational costs.
Ensure maintenance activities are conducted safely, efficiently, and in line with environmental and operational targets.
Provide technical support across disciplines and assist in the coordination and oversight of contractors.
Participate in an on-call rota to provide support for breakdowns and urgent maintenance—this includes availability during nights, weekends, and bank holidays.
Candidate Profile
Essential Skills & Experience:
Proven experience in EC&I engineering within the process or manufacturing industries.
City & Guilds / NVQ Level 3 / HNC (or equivalent) in a relevant engineering discipline.
Experience using Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
Working knowledge of DCS and SCADA systems.
Strong understanding of health, safety, and environmental practices and regulations.
Ability to interpret instrument loop drawings and P&IDs.
Logical thinker with strong problem-solving skills.
Effective communicator at all levels of the organisation.
Desirable Qualifications:
Recognised electrical qualification that qualifies for multi-skilled status.
18th Edition IEE Wiring Regulations certification
