We all want to live in the place we call home with the people and things that we love, in communities where we look out for one another, doing things that matter to us.
We want to make this a reality for people living in Hartlepool so that they have better outcomes and better lives.
The power of having a purpose in a vocational sense is an important part of life for all people for many reasons that can include economic benefits, social status, relationships and health and wellbeing. Having a job or participating in meaningful volunteering can facilitate independent living, give greater opportunity to engage in society and is often a key part of an individual’s identity.
Meaningful employment or volunteering can increase an individual’s self-esteem and sense of belonging, however for people with disabilities gaining and sustaining employment or volunteering can often be far more difficult than those without disabilities.
Our local strategic ambition is to increase the number of adults with disabilities in meaningful, and sustainable, paid employment or volunteering. The team will work to support people to lead a ‘glorious ordinary life’.
