Primary Care Pharmacy Technician

Band 4

Hours: 37 hours available (full time)

18 month Fixed Term or Secondment Position

We have an exciting, fixed term opportunity for an enthusiastic, GPhC registered pharmacy technician to undertake a dual role working within Aberdeen City Health and Social Care Partnership (ACHSCP).

The post-holder will work alongside pharmacy colleagues to support delivery of the pharmacotherapy service outlined in the 2018 GMS Contract for Scotland on 3 days a week. This will include activities such as medication compliance reviews, dealing with pharmaceutical queries (e.g. shortages), medicine reconciliation and medication management advice for patients and carers.

The other 2 days will see the post holder supporting prescribing efficiencies work in the City to ensure the best use of public funds in prescribing of medicines.

You may have a primary care, community or hospital pharmacy background, but you must be registered with the GPhC. Good communication, interpersonal and time management skills are essential. Full driving licence and use of a car is essential.

Full time hours are currently 37 hours per week (reducing to 36 hours per week from 1st April 2026).

As from 1/4/26, the Agenda for Change full-time working week will be reducing from 37 to 36 hours per week. Part time hours will be reduced pro-rata. However, there will be a corresponding increase in the hourly rate so that pay will not be affected.
