We are inviting applications for the position of Assistant Manager at SuperValu Strand Road. This full-time, permanent role involves 37.5 hours per week, with flexibility required for days, evenings, and weekends according to an agreed shift pattern. Candidates must be able to travel to the store via car, public transport, or other means.
Role Overview
To assist the Store Manager in daily store operations, ensuring team engagement and asset management to deliver profitability. The Assistant Manager will deputise for the Store Manager as needed.
Responsibilities
1. Support the store manager in achieving store KPIs.
2. Maximise sales and profitability.
3. Maintain high store standards and support stock take processes.
4. Promote a safe working environment, leading by example in food safety, health, safety, and compliance.
5. Deliver excellent customer service and manage social media to boost sales.
6. Oversee store ordering to ensure product availability.
7. Assist in team management tasks such as rostering, recruitment, training, appraisals, and performance management, in line with employment policies.
8. Engage with colleagues, the local community, and charity partners.
9. Potentially cover post office and cash duties with appropriate training.

Role Criteria
Essential
* Minimum 2 years recent supervisory experience in a busy convenience or supermarket environment
* GCSE Maths and English (Grade C or above) or equivalent
* Experience in stock control, people skills, cost control, rota planning, and HACCP
* Excellent communication skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office
Desirable
* Knowledge of fresh food areas and retail stock take procedures
* Experience with Post Office, off licence, or forecourt operations
