Hastings Area School System
The Hastings Area School System is seeking an outstanding educational leader to serve as Principal of Hastings High School beginning with the 2026–2027 school year. The ideal candidate will be a student-centered instructional leader who is committed to academic excellence, positive school culture, strong communication, and collaborative leadership.
Hastings High School serves students in grades 9–12 and is committed to preparing all students for success in college, careers, and life through high-quality instruction, meaningful relationships, and a supportive learning environment.
Qualifications
1. Valid Michigan School Administrator Certificate or the ability to obtain appropriate approval/certification
2. Master’s degree in Educational Leadership or related field preferred
3. Successful teaching and administrative experience preferred
4. Strong knowledge of curriculum, instruction, assessment, and school improvement practices
5. Experience supporting student achievement and positive behavior systems
6. Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
7. Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with students, staff, families, and community members
8. Knowledge of Michigan graduation requirements, school safety practices, and special education regulations
Responsibilities
9. Provide instructional leadership focused on continuous improvement and student achievement
10. Foster a positive, inclusive, and safe school culture
11. Supervise and evaluate certified and support staff
12. Support the implementation of district curriculum, assessment, and instructional initiatives
13. Use student achievement and behavioral data to guide decision-making
14. Maintain strong communication with students, parents, staff, and community stakeholders
15. Oversee student discipline and attendance procedures
16. Coordinate school activities, events, and extracurricular programs
17. Collaborate with district administrators and building leaders to support district goals
18. Ensure compliance with state and federal requirements
