Maintenance Engineer Location: Cheltenham, Gloucestershire Early Shift (6am – 2pm) We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Engineer to ensure the safety, reliability and optimal performance of all machinery and equipment across our site. This is a key role within our maintenance function, supporting continuous improvement, operational excellence, and safe working practices. Key Responsibilities: Carry out electrical and mechanical repairs and preventative maintenance on all machinery, electrical equipment, and factory services to a high standard and in line with manufacturer specifications. Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and electronic faults across production equipment, including CNC and PLC‑controlled machinery. Support the Maintenance Team Leader/Sub‑Section Leader in planning and delivering preventative maintenance schedules and TPM activities. Drive improvements in machinery and equipment reliability. Assist with the management and coordination of contractors. Work closely with the Maintenance Management Team to deliver departmental strategies and KPIs. Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date CMMS data. Support Boiler Operation and Energy Centre maintenance activities. Adhere to and promote Company Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) standards, identifying opportunities for improvement. Demonstrate alignment with Company Core Values. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and projects. Remain flexible to undertake additional duties as required. Develop and progress your own personal development plan. Your Experience: Strong numeracy and literacy skills to support daily tasks and planning. Experience working in a production or manufacturing environment. Basic computer skills. Understanding of the commercial impact of engineering activities on departmental performance. Knowledge of safe working practices and EHS principles. Awareness of Continuous Improvement tools (e.g., Six Sigma, 5Y). Ability to deputise for the Team Leader when required. Role-Specific Requirements: Proven experience in maintenance engineering. Multiskilled background with a Mechanical or Electrical Apprenticeship (ONC or equivalent NVQ). Experience working with PLCs, CNC machinery, hydraulics, pneumatics, and industrial control systems. Strong fault‑finding capabilities. CNC maintenance experience or equivalent technical exposure. Proven boiler operation experience. BOAS (Boiler Operator Accredited Scheme) certification. Experience using Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
