Overview

Lead Support Worker – Haverhill

Full-time | Must hold a full UK manual or automatic driving licence.

We’re looking for a confident, compassionate Lead Support Worker to join our team in Haverhill, supporting adults with learning disabilities, autism, and physical mobility needs across eight individual flats. This is a full-time role for someone who leads by example, communicates with empathy and precision, and thrives in a setting where no two days are the same.

You’ll be supporting a group of people aged between 30 and 80, each with their own interests, routines, and goals. From church visits and sensory room sessions to shopping trips, zoo outings and evening discos, the people we support enjoy a wide range of interests and you’ll play a key role in helping them stay connected to family, friends, and their community. Support is typically 1:1, with occasional 2:1 in the community, and you’ll need to be flexible to help people get to appointments and social events.

Responsibilities

* Lead on rota management, inputting rotas electronically and helping the team stay organised and responsive.
* Support with incident reporting, system updates and quality assurance.
* Attend health and safety or organisational meetings as needed.
* Be a key point of support for colleagues, offering guidance, helping with training, and modelling best practice in everything.
* Provide person-centred support, including personal care (from prompting to full support), hoist use, wheelchair support, medication administration and meal planning as required.
* Support flexible shift patterns (early and late shifts, typically 7am–2pm or 2pm–9pm) with no required sleep-ins or regular night shifts.
* Be local and able to work flexibly across all eight flats; uphold the organisation’s values of Ambition, Courage, Integrity, Partnership and Respect.

Requirements

* Experience and skills in supporting adults with learning disabilities, autism, and physical mobility needs.
* Strong writing and listening skills; comfortable using systems and recording information clearly.
* Confidence with personal care and mobility support, including hoist use and wheelchair assistance; medication administration and meal planning experience is preferred.
* Full UK manual or automatic driving licence.
* Ability to support and train colleagues, manage rota planning, and participate in meetings.

Rewards

* Competitive pay and job satisfaction.
* 30 days annual leave entitlement, pro-rata, (including bank holidays), rising to a maximum of 35 days.
* Pension scheme, including a money purchase scheme with employee and employer contribution.
* Discounts and cashback on the high street and online shopping through Rewarding Dimensions.
* Paid training with financial bonuses for completion of awards and diplomas.
* Free access to the Employee Assistance Programme with a 24/7 helpline for advice and support, also available to partners and immediate family.
* Recognition and financial bonus every five years through Long Service Awards.
* Opportunity to purchase Simply Health, a discounted health and dental cover scheme.
* Bike to work scheme and season ticket loans.
* £200 recommend a friend scheme.
