Unlock your passions @ Strathmore Veterinary Clinic
We are a fantastic 1st opinion practice situated in a rural town just off of the A303 with good links to London, coastal areas and countryside. We offer a large, easily accessible car park for clients and staff. We are the only clinic in the area to provide our own out of hours service and therefore, can offer consistency in patient care and are able to see an abundance of different cases.
We are a well-equipped, large practice offering modern technology such as digital x-ray, dental x-ray, endoscopy, bronchoscopy, K-laser, multi-parameter machines and specialised ophthalmology equipment. We are also currently trialling a new innovative oncology screening machine and are always interested in new equipment that will benefit our patients and clients.
We are a close-knit team of 5 full time Vets, 6 full time Nurses, 1 degree Student Nurse and 2 VCA's who enjoy doing social activities outside of work as much as we can. These have included archery, pub and dog walks, curry nights, theatre trips and a hog roast. We focus strongly on positive mental health and wellbeing, emphasising the importance of talking to each other and helping each other. We hold regular staff meetings to discuss cases, new information and to check in with each other. Our managers are all very accessible and approachable.
CPD is encouraged; we have many certificate holders in practice who have done their training whilst working here. We pride ourselves on being a training practice and our vets are very patient and keen to demonstrate practical techniques to our new graduates.
Step into a supportive start
Your normal hours of work are 40 hours per week, 5 days a week. Due to the particular needs of the business we need to operate a rota system, therefore there are no normal times of work applicable to you and your daily hours, start and finish times will vary from time to time on a rota system. The rota operates Monday to Friday inclusive. In addition, you may also be required to participate in a weekend rota and/or an out of hour.
The whole team are great at helping new graduates and they will also be assigned a mentor who they will develop a good working relationship with. We feel it is important for a new graduate to have this to offer extra support. A new graduate will not undertake any out of hours work until they feel they are confident enough to do so and they will have a second on call senior vet as extra support. When a new graduate starts, they will have longer appointment times for consultations, giving them ample time to get used to practice protocols and develop good communication skills with clients.
