Overview

At Argos, we’re a digital-led UK retailer that keeps pushing boundaries to meet every generation with what they want, how and when they want it. As a market leader in general merchandise, serving millions of customers through our website, app, same-day delivery and Click & Collect services, we offer real opportunities to learn, grow and shape your career. With roles spanning Commercial, Buying, Merchandising, Design and Supply Chain, through to Digital, Operations, Customer Experience, Marketing, and People and Transformation, you will work with brilliant colleagues and directly shape how we serve our customers every day. From enabling inspiring choice across our owned brands, including Habitat, Chad Valley and Bush, alongside the world’s biggest brands like Apple, Lego, Xbox and Samsung, to making shopping effortlessly convenient, championing trusted value and accelerating our strategy - Argos is an exciting place to build your future.

About The Team

Join our Argos Operations division, where we drive innovation and operational excellence across the Store Support Centre and Home environments. As part of the Central Operations Support team, you’ll work alongside passionate colleagues who are committed to delivering exceptional customer experiences, ensuring consistency, and supporting commercial performance. We foster a collaborative culture, partnering with Sainsbury’s teams and third parties to deliver reliable, cost-efficient solutions and continuous improvement in our instore prepaid and collections activities.

More About The Role

As the Collections & Consumables Manager, you’ll be responsible for overseeing and enhancing the end-to-end operations for all instore prepaid and collection processes, including Argos Collection Points, eBay, DPD, Tu, Supplier Direct fulfilled missions, and online Click & Collect.

Your day-to-day will involve collaborating with store and field teams to ensure exceptional customer service, consistent operations, and robust commercial outcomes and managing your direct reports. You’ll also play a pivotal role in consumables and colleague uniform management, building relationships with key stakeholders to guarantee timely and cost-effective supply.

You’ll lead process improvement initiatives, support underperforming stores, and represent Argos Central Operations Support across the business. Expect to be involved in key projects focused on optimising collections and prepaid channels, developing operational models, and utilising data to drive performance. This is both an operational and strategic role, requiring you to balance immediate needs with long-term vision.

More About You

To thrive in this role, you’ll need demonstrable operational expertise within retail store processes, especially in collections, fulfilment-front, and prepaid channels. You’ll excel at interpreting operational data to pinpoint issues, trends, and opportunities, and be comfortable managing or influencing routines and customer-facing operations. Your ability to distil complex information into clear, concise updates will be crucial, as will your talent for engaging and matrix-managing cross-business teams. We’re looking for someone who embodies our valued behaviours and leadership performance expectations: obsessed with the customer, accountable for their delivery, keen to share and understand the bigger picture, and committed to fostering an environment of diverse perspectives and challenge.

Essential

* Strong operational understanding of Argos store processes, especially collections, fulfilment-front and pre-paid channels along with commercial awareness of external impacts.
* Experience working with or managing third-party partners or suppliers with evidence of managing performance against SLAs, service standards and commercial measures (e.g., logistics, consumables or service providers).
* Analytical and commercially minded, with the ability to link programme outcomes to cost, performance and customer measures.
* Strong operational problem-solving capability, using data, insight and frontline feedback to diagnose issues and drive practical improvement.
* Ability to influence and work effectively across multiple teams and functions, including stores, central operations, suppliers and commercial partners.

Desirable

* Comfortable interpreting operational data to identify issues, trends and opportunities.
* Experience managing or influencing operational routines, process improvement or customer-facing operations.
* Communicator with the ability to distil complexity into clear, concise and actionable updates.

We are committed to being a truly inclusive retailer so you’ll be welcomed whoever you are and wherever you work. Around here, there’s always the chance to try something new — whether that’s as part of an evolving team or somewhere else across the business - and we take development seriously and promise to support you. We also recognise and celebrate colleagues when they go the extra mile and, where possible, offer flexible working. When you join our team, we’ll also offer you an amazing range of benefits. Here are some of them: Starting off with colleague discount, you’ll be able to save 10% on your shopping online and instore at Sainsbury’s, Argos, TU and Habitat, and we regularly increase the discount to 15% at points during the year. We’ve also got you covered for your future with our pensions scheme and life cover. You’ll also be able to share in our success as you may be eligible for a performance-related bonus of up to 20% of salary, depending on how we perform. Your wellbeing is important to us too. You’ll receive an annual holiday allowance, and you can buy up to an additional week’s holiday, and we provide private healthcare. We also offer other benefits that will help your money go further such as season ticket loans, interest free car loan of up to £10k, cycle to work scheme, health cash plans, salary advance (where you can access some of your pay before pay day) as well access to a great range of discounts from hundreds of other retailers. And if you ever need it there is also an Employee Assistance Programme. Moments that matter are as important to us as they are to you which is why we give up to 26 weeks’ pay for maternity or adoption leave and up to 4 weeks’ pay for paternity leave.
