Shape the Future: Become a Volunteer School Governor
Are you passionate about education and looking for a meaningful way to give back to your community? The Llewellyn School is seeking dedicated, objective, and community-minded individuals to join our Governing Board.
As a School Governor, you won’t be managing the day-to-day operations, that’s for our School Leader. Instead, you will work at a strategic level to ensure every child in our school receives the best possible education in a safe and supportive environment.
The Role
The Governing Board acts as a "critical friend" to the school. Your role will focus on three key core functions:
1. Setting the Vision: Helping to define the school’s strategy, ethos, and long-term goals.
2. Accountability: Holding executive leaders to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils.
3. Financial Oversight: Ensuring money is well spent and the school remains financially stable.
What’s in it for you?
4. Professional Development: Gain experience in strategic planning, recruitment, budget management, and corporate governance.
5. Community Impact: Directly contribute to the success and wellbeing of local children.
6. Networking: Work alongside a diverse group of professionals and community members.
7. Training: Access to free governor induction training and ongoing support.
Who are we looking for?
You don’t need to be an expert in education or a parent of a pupil to apply. We value a diverse range of perspectives and are currently looking for individuals with skills or interest in:
8. Finance or Accounting
9. Human Resources (HR)
10. Data Analysis
11. Health and Safety / Premises Management
12. Legal or Compliance
Commitment: The board usually meets 6times per year, typically in the evenings. You will also be encouraged to visit the school occasionally. Total commitment is roughly 2-3 hours per month.
How to Apply
If you have the enthusiasm to help our pupils thrive and the time to commit to this vital role, we would love to hear from you.
