Industry leading manufacturer & distributor in specialist survival equipment solutions is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer based at our manufacturing facilities site just outside of Aylesbury.
A rare opportunity to join a dynamic team specialising in advanced materials and pressure vessels for the world's most demanding environments. This position will suit an experienced engineer who enjoys a diverse roll involving production engineering, design & development and project management.
Reporting directly to the Managing Director, the Senior Engineer will take up a management position within a small company growing, on average, around 35% per year. With 11 staff currently employed, the team is small, but focused on a niche market and currently has extensive orderbooks after bringing several new products to market. Working in industries dominated by large organisations, the Senior Engineer will have the opportunity to engage with partners and customers supporting government, commercial and the private yacht sector.
The Senior Engineer will be responsible for: -
* Overseeing design, development and testing of new products including – pressure vessel assemblies (proven through performance-based testing), pneumatic panels, lifting equipment, air and oxygen systems and environmental monitoring software.
* Analysis and sign-off on engineering calculations for new and existing products.
* Reviewing Engineering Changes, Non-conformities, CAPAs.
* Where required, supporting the shop floor with production builds.
* Supply Chain Management.
* Managing Engineering Contractors scope of works and deliverables.
* Reviewing and approving production planning proposals for improving efficiencies in production, processes, assembly and testing including capital investments in new equipment and reviewing of software.
* Working on design concepts using engineering principles.
* Supporting production planning and procurement team in making day-to-day decisions.
An ideal candidate will: -
* Be an experienced mechanical engineer who is familiar with pneumatics, hydraulics and/or pressure vessels.
* Experienced in working in highly regulated environments e.g. Aerospace, Maritime, Defence or Medical Device sectors.
* Be confident and experienced in calculating loads, stresses and rating pneumatic components by applying recognised standards.
* Comfortable with reviewing and signing off on technical drawings and production documentation packages.
* Have a positive proactive approach to day-to-day working life, including excellent communication, pride in appearance and leading by example.
* Demonstrable leadership qualities including chairing meetings and making team announcements.
* A meticulous approach to working responsibilities, focused on high quality deliverables to strict deadlines.
* Be willing for travel overseas occasionally to attend national safety committee meetings, such as ASME.
* Be responsible, diligent and reliable. A team player.
* Be self-motivated to work efficiently, effectively and consistently.
* Demonstrate a high level of professionalism and confidentiality.
Basic Requirements & Skills
* Retain a valid permit to work in the United Kingdom;
* Strong IT competence with Microsoft Office;
* Ability to learn and navigate new software efficiently;
* UK Driving license & vehicle.
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: £52,000-£60,000 negotiable based on prior experience.
