An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated CT Radiographer to join the Radiology Department at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust.
At NUH, we make a difference every day. As one of the largest and busiest NHS Trusts in the country, serving over 2.5 million residents across Nottinghamshire and the wider East Midlands, we are proud to deliver nationally and internationally renowned specialist services. Spanning three main sites – Queen’s Medical Centre, Nottingham City Hospital and Ropewalk House – our Trust is home to the East Midlands Major Trauma Centre and a wide range of tertiary services.
This is an exciting time to join NUH as we continue to invest in our hospitals and shape the future of diagnostic imaging services.
The Role
As a Band 6 CT Radiographer, you will undertake a wide range of CT imaging procedures, ensuring consistently high standards of radiographic technique, patient care and safety. You will work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary environment, contributing to an efficient, patient-focused CT service.
You will be responsible for producing high-quality diagnostic images in line with established protocols and Royal College of Radiologists guidelines, ensuring all requests are appropriate and clearly justified. You will undertake the duties of an IR(ME)R Operator, ensuring compliance with Ionising Radiation (Medical Exposure) Regulations and maintaining safe radiation practice at all times.
The role includes intravenous cannulation and administration of contrast media in accordance with Directorate protocols. Following appropriate training, you may also administer furosemide where required by examination protocols. You will ensure accurate documentation, complete extravasation reporting where necessary, and maintain data integrity in line with information governance requirements.
You will participate in the Band 6 rota, including out-of-hours shifts and on-call duties, supporting service commitments across sites. Flexibility to work at any site overseen by the CT service is essential.
Leadership and Professional Practice
This role requires confident clinical judgement and the ability to prioritise and coordinate workloads effectively. You will support the triage of patients and workflow, delegating tasks appropriately to ensure smooth departmental operations.
As a senior member of the team, you will supervise, mentor and support junior radiographers and students. You will contribute to training in specialised imaging techniques, undertake clinical assessments, and participate in individual performance management processes where required. Acting as a resource within the clinical setting, you will promote a culture of learning, professionalism and continuous improvement.
You will also play an active role in quality assurance, dose optimisation, equipment safety checks and audit activity, reporting any equipment malfunction promptly and taking appropriate action if safety concerns arise.
About You
We are seeking a motivated and compassionate radiographer who demonstrates behaviours aligned with our “We are here for you” values. You will be professional, reliable, industrious and an effective team member with excellent communication skills.
You must hold a Diploma of the College of Radiographers or BSc (Hons) in Diagnostic Radiography and be HCPC registered. Evidence of ongoing Continuing Professional Development is essential. Postgraduate qualification in CT and IV cannulation training are desirable.
You will have a broad range of radiography experience within a UK hospital setting. Previous CT experience and experience in an A&E environment are desirable. You must be confident in clinical decision-making, able to coordinate workloads effectively within a multidisciplinary team, and comfortable communicating with a wide range of stakeholders, including medical and nursing staff.
A strong commitment to patient-centred care, safety, infection prevention, safeguarding and governance is essential.
