Senior Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Officer – Worcester
A GBP 39,774 to A GBP 54,743 + Benefits (including 8% pension, x4 life assurance and private medical).
Our client, Yamazaki Mazak, is a leading global manufacturing company based in Worcester. This is an excellent opportunity to work for a market leading Machine Tool manufacturer with a strong industry presence. Jonathan Lee Workforce Solutions are the preferred supplier to Mazak.
Responsibilities
* Lead the implementation and monitoring of HSE policies, procedures, and programs.
* Conduct risk assessments, audits, and inspections to identify hazards and ensure compliance.
* Investigate incidents and near misses, prepare reports, and recommend corrective actions.
* Deliver HSE training and toolbox talks to staff and contractors.
* Maintain accurate records and documentation in line with legal and company requirements.
* Liaise with regulatory bodies and ensure timely reporting.
* Support the development of emergency response plans and conduct drills.
* Champion a culture of safety and environmental responsibility across all levels of the organization.
* Report analysis including trends.
* Interrogate root cause of accidents, including creation of departmental systems and procedures to prevent recurrence.
* Understand and maintain departmental systems, procedures and KPIs.
* Ability and willingness to train others on on‑the‑job (OJT) training.
* Demonstrate tangible Kaizen-based improvement projects for SQDCP.
* Control 5S to a high standard.
Essential Qualifications
* NEBOSH Diploma
* Degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) in a relevant field such as Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering or Risk Management
Desirable Certifications
* IOSH Membership
* ISO 45001 Lead Auditor
* Environmental Management Qualification
* First Aid at Work and Fire Safety
* Manual Handling Training
* Formal training in COSHH, Work at Height, or advanced risk assessment techniques desirable
Experience Requirements
* Typically 5+ years in HSE roles, with at least 2 years in a senior or supervisory capacity.
* Experience in conducting risk assessments, incident investigations, and delivering training.
* Understanding of local and international HSE laws, regulations, and standards and compliance frameworks relevant to the industry.
* Experience of working with certification bodies.
