Role Overview
As an experienced Project Manager working with our client you will play a key role in ensuring that a range of internal change initiatives and customer projects are delivered effectively. You must be passionate about driving efficiency, transparency, and control in project delivery.
Day to day you will work closely with internal stakeholders to build and operate a standards-based approach to project delivery, establishing a small, flexible Project Management Office (PMO) in the process. You will work closely with existing project coordination and facilitation resources, providing leadership and mentoring.
As you shape our project management capabilities and implement new approaches, our client will benefit from enhanced governance, control, and visibility across a programme of internal and external projects. The successful candidate will have a experience in setting up and managing a Project Management Office (PMO), ensuring standardised processes, risk management, and reporting frameworks are embedded to support effective project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
· Establish and maintain robust project governance frameworks, ensuring compliance with best practices.
· Enhance visibility and reporting across internal projects, providing senior stakeholders with clear insights.
· Implement and drive standardised project controls, including risk, issue, and change management.
· Lead the setup and continuous improvement of a PMO, defining processes, templates, and reporting mechanisms.
· Support project teams in adopting best-in-class project management methodologies (e.g., PRINCE2, Agile, or hybrid approaches).
· Ensure resource planning, budgeting, and stakeholder communications align with strategic objectives.
· Act as a champion for continuous improvement in project delivery practices.
Required Skills
· Proven experience in Project Management within a fast-moving environment.
· Strong understanding of governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) frameworks.
· Expertise in project tracking, reporting, and control mechanisms.
· Hands-on experience with project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Jira, ).
· Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
· Relevant qualifications (e.g., PRINCE2, PMP, MSP, or P3O desirable).
Preferred Skills
· Experience designing, building and operating Project Management Office (PMO)
· Experience of collaborating with cross-functional teams in an Agile/Scrum environment, and working closely with Product Owners
Location
The office is based in Ellesmere Port, this role is primarily remote.
Goals for this role:
Establish Robust Governance & Controls
· Implement a structured governance framework to ensure consistent project oversight and decision-making.
· Define and enforce clear project controls, including risk, issue, and change management processes.
Increase Visibility & Reporting
· Develop and maintain programme-wide reporting to provide senior stakeholders with real-time insights.
· Introduce KPIs and dashboards to track project health, progress, and resource allocation
Set Up & Embed a PMO
· Design and implement a Project Management Office (PMO) to standardise methodologies, templates, and reporting tools.
· Ensure project teams are trained and supported in adopting best-practice frameworks (e.g., PRINCE2, Agile, or hybrid).
Drive Project Delivery Excellence
· Improve project efficiency by reducing delays, mitigating risks, and enhancing resource planning.
· Foster a culture of continuous improvement, ensuring lessons learned are captured and applied across projects.
Enhance Stakeholder Engagement & Communication
· Act as a bridge between senior leadership, project teams, and key business units to ensure alignment on priorities.
· Develop a clear communication strategy, ensuring all stakeholders are informed and engaged throughout the project lifecycle.
Ensure Compliance & Alignment with Business Strategy
· Align project governance and controls with organisational policies, regulatory requirements, and strategic objectives.
