Hours: Full Time
Working Pattern: Hybrid, involving at least two days per week at an office site
About this opportunity
Join our Retail Financial Control & Reporting team within Group Finance Support (GFS), based across Yorkshire, the South West, and Wales. Our team of around 300 colleagues is responsible for financial reporting, control, and supporting strategic initiatives.
As an Assistant Finance Manager, you will work closely with Retail Finance to enhance our control environment and ensure the accuracy of financial reporting, especially delivering monthly Effective Interest Rate (EIR) outputs for Credit Cards, Homes, and Loans models.
Responsibilities include:
* Delivering automated EIR solutions for Consumer Lending, focusing on Cards and Homes models
* Preparing prescribed monthly management accounts and analyzing actuals for trends
* Researching data to interpret trends and ensure control integrity
* Embedding risk management processes to maintain a high-quality control environment
* Building networks across Finance to facilitate swift ledger investigations
* Identifying process improvements and supporting continuous improvement initiatives
* Collaborating with internal teams, external auditors, and third parties
* Driving automation and AI tools to improve processes

What you’ll need:
* Qualified/part-qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
* Strong Excel skills and experience with financial systems
* Analytical skills and attention to detail
* Understanding of EIR, governance controls, SOX testing, and stakeholder communication
* Risk and control knowledge, including LBG RSCA
* Interest in automation and AI tools for control improvements
Useful experience:
* Experience in EIR
* SOX framework knowledge
