About the role
A Project Mechanical Quantity Surveyor (QS) is responsible for managing the commercial and contractual aspects of mechanical engineering works on a construction project. This role ensures cost-effective planning, budgeting, procurement, and financial control of all mechanical elements, such as HVAC, piping, fire protection systems, and plumbing, while ensuring compliance with project requirements, regulations, and timelines.
Cost Estimation & Budgeting:
* Prepare detailed mechanical cost estimates based on design documents, specifications, and site conditions.
* Develop and monitor project budgets, identifying variances and recommending corrective actions.
Procurement & Tendering:
* Prepare Bills of Quantities (BOQs) and tender documentation for mechanical works.
* Evaluate and analyze subcontractor and supplier bids and recommend contract awards.
Contract Management:
* Administer contracts in accordance with JCT D&B or other standard forms.
* Manage variations, claims, and dispute resolution related to mechanical works.
Cost Control & Reporting:
* Track costs against budget and prepare regular financial reports.
* Conduct value engineering and cost-saving analysis during project execution.
Measurement & Valuation:
* Perform on-site measurements and re-measurements for mechanical components.
* Validate and certify subcontractor and supplier invoices.
Collaboration & Coordination:
* Coordinate with design, procurement, and construction teams to ensure alignment on mechanical scope.
* Attend site meetings and liaise with project managers, engineers, and stakeholders.
