What you’ll be doing as a SEN Teaching Assistant
Working 1:1 or in small groups with pupils with autism, SEMH needs, communication differences, or physical needs
Supporting sensory routines, visual timetables, and structured learning
Helping pupils build confidence, independence, and emotional resilience
Teaming up with teachers, therapists, and support staff to help each child thrive
Creating a calm, safe and predictable environment every day
Requirements
You don’t need to have worked in a specialist school before, but you do need to bring warmth, reliability, and the kind of patience that makes pupils feel genuinely supported.
If you’ve got experience in any of the following, even better:
Autism support
Behaviour mentoring
SEMH
Non-verbal communication
Makaton, PECs, or sensory support
