We are recruiting two dedicated, innovative and organised Dietetic Assistant Practitioners to join our growing, experienced Nutrition and Dietetics team. One post will be 37.5 hours per week and the other at 22.5 hours per week. Both roles are within the Acute Adult Dietetics service.
Working closely with Dietitians, you will support the delivery of high-quality nutritional care across the wards. You will complete diet histories and support patient assessments, respond to patient‑related queries, and help wards implement and monitor nutritional care plans to improve nutritional practice. You will also support home enteral nutrition patients, update patient and staff education resources, and assist with stock control.
A key focus of the role is developing and delivering group education sessions for patients and the multidisciplinary team (MDT). You will also act as a Malnutrition Universal Screening Tool (MUST) Champion, taking a lead role in promoting good nutritional practice and delivering MUST training.
We will support your ongoing development through a Dietetic Assistant Practitioner competency framework.

Main duties of the job
* The post holder will play a crucial role in providing Nutrition and Dietetic Support to individuals.
* The role supports the education of both staff and patients and ongoing monitoring to promote nutrition.
* The key area of focus for this role is to support the development and delivery of group education sessions to patients and staff.
* You must have good communication skills and the ability to problem solve and use initiative to deal with varied queries.
* Good basic office and computer skills are required for this post as well as being able to work as a flexible and supportive team member.
Job responsibilities
* To assist in the support and nutritional management of both inpatients and outpatients under the supervision of a Dietitian.
* To organise the ordering and distribution of nutritional supplements and feeds.
* To provide patient related administrative support for the Dietitians and participate in secretarial duties with the dietetic secretaries.
* To complete home enteral feeding registration and updates, GP letter prescriptions and sample requests on direction of Dietitians.
* To work as an effective member of the dietetic team and contribute to the development of the dietetic service.
* To support the departmental audit and training programme.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Educated to GCSE or equivalent standard in Maths/English.
* Undergone relevant theoretical and practical work‑based training or holds academic/NVQ level III qualification.
* Undergraduate degree in Nutrition or Public Health.
* Member of British Dietetic Association as Dietetic Assistant.
Experience
* Previous experience of working within public health.
* Secretarial/administrative experience with record keeping.
* Experience of collecting data.
* Experience of working with patients.
Skills & Knowledge
* Good understanding and the role of a Dietitian.
* Enthusiasm for nutrition science.
* Good English written and verbal communication skills – able to deal with complex sensitive issues on a one‑to‑one basis/groups.
* Organisational skills – organises own time and prioritises workload to meet conflicting service demands.
* Ability to deal with distressing/uncomfortable situations.
* Knowledge of stock monitoring.
