The full-time study programme for all learners requires them to undertake relevant internal and external Industry Placement and employability activities. The post holder will work with employers to find suitable placements and actively explore opportunities to help ensure all learners have access to meaningful placement opportunities. The appointed person will also support the monitoring of placements and maximise other employer engagement opportunities where internal work experience is planned. The post holder will report to the Head of School for Health, Education, Well-being and Hospitality studies at Royal Leamington Spa College.
Responsibilities
* Co-ordinate the provision of Industry Placement to a nominal case-load of 16-18-year-old students studying Health & Social Care.
* Ensure relevant health and safety checks are carried out for each placement.
* Co-ordinate and record details of provision for each student.
* Develop and maintain a broad base of employers with whom the department can work to secure suitable work placements for the students.
* Work closely with the students' Personal Learning Advisor to place students in their chosen area of work.
* Provide support to the work placement providers and facilitate the opportunity of work placements.
* Work closely with the academic team and student Personal Learning Advisor.
* Provide students with guidance and support where needed to achieve a successful work placement.
* Develop and sustain good working relations with existing and new employers.
* Maintain and develop a database of suitable work experience providers and input provider names onto the College's CRM system.
* Provide regular reports for departmental managers.
* Be innovative and enterprising in arranging work placements to benefit the students.
* Attend relevant external events that will lead to increased employer engagement and placement opportunities.
* Support events and conferences staged by the college and department to the benefit of students.
* Promote Industry Placement in a positive and dynamic way.
* Attend team meetings and work as part of a team, also attending external meetings as required.
* Work on one's own initiative and support the team's objectives, including facilitating positive destinations for all the students.
* Be flexible particularly in dealing with busy employers.
* Record contact hours with students to claim the appropriate funding and monitor students' completion of relevant work placement log books.
* Assist with any other support duties across the department as may be required, including preparation of open days and career events.
* Undertake CPD as required by the department and College.
* Support the delivery of the T-Shaped Employability Framework.
* Attend college delivered 'Teaching Essentials' training.
Qualifications
* GCSE Grade C or above in English and Mathematics, or Level 2 equivalent qualification.
* Working knowledge of information technology such as e-mail, the internet and other software applications.
* Excellent administrative and organisational skills.
* Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
* Availability to travel between sites and hold a full UK driving licence without major endorsements.
* Experience of working effectively with processes and systems including Excel and relevant CRM packages.
* A First Aid qualification or willingness to gain qualification.
* A proven knowledge of the commercial sector.
The successful applicant will be required to satisfy various pre-employment checks, including but not limited to DBS, Barred List, Right to Work, Internet Search and TRA checks.
Salary
This role is pro-rate so the salary you will receive is £11,465.04 - £12,010.27 per annum. For roles that start part-way through the academic year, the annual salary will be pro-rate to the remaining months.
