As an OpenShift Infrastructure Engineer, you will play a key role in designing, building, and operating containerised platforms that enable scalable, resilient, and secure solutions. Working on complex, high-impact programmes, you will help drive innovation through cloud-native technologies and automation. You'll take ownership of platform engineering activities, contribute creative solutions to technical challenges, and collaborate within a supportive environment that enables continuous growth and meaningful impact. In this role, you will design, deploy, and manage OpenShift-based infrastructure, ensuring high availability, performance, and scalability across containerised environments. You will take ownership of platform reliability, leveraging automation and infrastructure-as-code to deliver consistent and efficient deployments aligned with business and technical requirements. You will collaborate closely with DevOps and development teams to support CI/CD integration and evolving application needs.
Responsibilities
* Design and manage OpenShift clusters and container platforms
* Automate and streamline infrastructure using Ansible, OpenStack, and scripting
* Orchestrate and maintain container workloads using Kubernetes
* Monitor and optimise platform performance, capacity, and resilience
* Support and integrate CI/CD pipelines and DevOps workflows
* Implement and maintain disaster recovery and backup solutions
Qualifications
* Strong experience in container platform engineering with hands‑on expertise in OpenShift, Kubernetes, and infrastructure automation
* Proactive approach to platform reliability and a deep understanding of modern cloud‑native infrastructure in secure or enterprise environments
* Proven experience with OpenShift and Kubernetes
* Strong understanding of containerised infrastructure and microservices
* Experience with automation tools such as Ansible, OpenStack, and Terraform
* Proficiency in scripting (e.g., Bash, Python)
* Experience supporting CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
* Knowledge of infrastructure resilience, backup, and disaster recovery
* Familiarity with secure or regulated environments is advantageous
* UK Security Clearance or eligibility to obtain clearance required for this secure programme
* Position based on site near Gloucester, 5 days per week
