Consultant Psychiatrist STH Tyneside Psychosis/Non Psychosis Adult CTT

Main duties of the job
Provide consultant clinical leadership to the service, assume consultant psychiatrist responsibility for patients, act as responsible clinician for patients under care, including those under Community Treatment Orders, ensure compliance with the Mental Health Act and CQC requirements, participate in assessments, develop care plans addressing psychiatric, physical, and social needs, carry out detailed psychiatric assessments, contribute to treatment plans including pharmacological management, forge good relationships with other psychiatrists, and provide consultation and advice to MDT and primary care colleagues.
Job responsibilities
* Consultant level clinical leadership and responsibility for patient care.
* Lead on compliance with Mental Health Act, CQC, and Community Treatment Orders.
* Assess, diagnose and manage adult psychiatry patients, including psychotropic medication.
* Develop and implement multidisciplinary care plans.
* Provide advice to MDT and primary care.
* Participate in peer groups and support other consultants.
Qualifications and Training
* MBBS (or equivalent).
* Included on GMC Specialist Register (General Psychiatry) or eligible for inclusion, or a trainee within six months of CCT.
* Approved under Section 12(2) of the Mental Health Act 1983.
* Approved Clinician Status.
* MRCPsych or equivalent qualification.
* Postgraduate qualifications in a relevant field.
* Training in educational supervision.
* Training in appraisal.
Knowledge
* Up to date knowledge in the field of Psychiatry.
* Awareness of current issues and controversies in service provision, mental health policy and legislation.
* Area of special interest relevant to the post demonstrated by publications or presentations to learned societies.
Experience
* Experience of multidisciplinary team working.
* Wide clinical experience in general adult psychiatry in different clinical settings.
* Experience of clinical audit.
* Experience in multi‑agency work especially with service user, carer and voluntary agencies.
* Experience in service management or development.
Skills
* High level of clinical skills.
* Effective team working.
* Proven competence in diagnosis and management of psychiatric disorders in Adult Psychiatry.
* Excellent teaching skills.

Salary
£109,725 to £145,478 per annum (pro rata for part time).
Notes
Applicants should be on the Specialist Register or be within 6 months of obtaining CCT at the point of interview. Candidates must have eligibility for Section 12 approval and Approved Clinician status. The role is a substantive 8 sessions post; full‑time may be considered.
