About the Role
The bank role could include supporting on our Talkshop drop-in service; it may involve supporting with some of our groups e.g. young parents/parents to be or the LGBTQ+ Rainbow Reflections group; it could involve engaging with young people out in the community as part of the Street Talk detached youth work team; or it may involve supporting some group delivery in schools. You will be building trusting relationships with young people aged 11-19 (up to 25 for targeted groups) to help them to learn about themselves and overcome the challenges they face. Youth Workers provide information, advice, and guidance to young people on a range of issues including mental health and emotional wellbeing, sexual health and contraception, relationships, and much more.
About you
You must have experience of working in a similar setting and/or Vocational Youth Work or relevant Children and Young Peoples qualifications (Including careers guidance, youth justice etc.) to a minimum of NVQ Level 3 or above. You should have undertaken basic safeguarding training and have at least 1 years’ experience of working (paid/unpaid) with young people in a youth/community setting. If unqualified to level 3 you may be considered for the band 2 role.
You will be passionate about youth work and understand the importance of listening to the voice of the child, to advise and advocate for them. You will have excellent communication skills and will be able to build trusting, positive, relationships with young people, even in situations where they may be difficult to engage. You will need to form good working relationships with young people and develop a good knowledge of their individual needs. You need to be a good role model to young people, be an advocate and ensure you listen and act on their wishes.

Additional Information
Some early morning work (8:30am) for school delivery sessions and some evening work (generally up to 8pm).
An enhanced DBS check will be required.
