Steelcraft designs, manufactures and installs a range of mild steel fabrication including architectural and industrial metalwork. In order to achieve an ambitious growth target, we require a commercially-aware Estimator to be the first point of contact for customer enquiries, prepare accurate quotations and follow up on tender opportunities. You’ll work closely with our design, manufacturing, and installation teams to ensure that clients receive high-quality, cost-effective solutions tailored to their needs.
Key Requirements
This is a full-time role, based on either entirely on-site or hybrid working.
* Reviewing client drawings, site information, and specifications.
* Estimating & quote preparation using spreadsheets and word processing skills.
* Obtaining supplier and subcontractor pricing for materials, services and specialist items.
* Responding promptly to incoming enquiries via phone, email, and web leads.
* Advising clients on suitable product options, finishes, and installation considerations.
* Building and maintain strong working relationships with clients.
* Liaising with design and production teams to ensure estimates are practical and achievable.
* Supporting smooth handover of successful projects to the operations team.
* Tracking and follow up on quotations to maximise conversion rates.
* Maintaining accurate records of all enquiries and orders in CRM/ERP systems.
* Monitoring material costs and market trends to ensure competitive pricing.
* Providing regular updates to management on sales activity and pipeline.
Skills & Experience
* Proven experience of technical estimating within architectural metalwork, steel fabrication, engineering, manufacturing or construction.
* Ability to read and technical & construction drawings and specifications.
* Strong numerical and analytical skills with attention to detail.
* Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
* Organised, able to prioritise multiple enquiries and deadline under pressure.
* Confident and professional communicator, both written and verbal.
* Proactive and adaptable with a problem-solving mindset.
Candidates who can also offer business development skills would be at an advantage.
