At SGS, we’re looking for an experienced and driven Laboratory Manager to oversee the delivery of high‑quality laboratory services across our Oil, Gas, Chemicals & Environmental operations. This is a key leadership role where you’ll shape performance, develop people, and drive continuous improvement, all while ensuring exceptional service to our clients.
Responsibilities
- Leading day‑to‑day laboratory operations, ensuring samples are processed and reported on time
- Driving performance, efficiency, and profitability across the lab
- Managing, coaching, and developing a high‑performing team
- Ensuring compliance with quality standards, UKAS requirements, and HSE procedures
- Building strong client relationships and resolving issues proactively
- Identifying opportunities for continuous improvement and business growth
Qualifications
Essential
- Strong technical knowledge of petrochemical testing standards (IP, ASTM, ISO, CEN)
- Familiarity with advanced analytical techniques, such as: GC-MS, LC-MS & ICP
- Proven experience in a laboratory or service environment within the petrochemical sector
- Experience leading teams and driving performance
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders
- Strong understanding of HSE and quality systems
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment
