We’re looking for a motivated Accounts Assistant to join our growing team, where your contributions will directly support a wide range of clients, from sole traders and partnerships to limited companies. Location: Oswestry Job Type: Full-time (part time will be considered) Salary: £24,500 to £26,000 DOE About the Role This is a fantastic opportunity to be involved in meaningful client work and gain exposure across all areas of account preparation, tax, and VAT. You’ll play a key role in supporting the delivery of accurate and timely financial information, while also dealing directly with clients and HMRC. Your responsibilities will include: * Preparing draft accounts from complete and incomplete records for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies using CCH software * Reconciling bank and cash control accounts * Analysing income and expenditure into appropriate headings * Preparing schedules of debtors, creditors, and other control accounts * Calculating depreciation, VAT, and preparing related control accounts * Assisting in the preparation of personal and corporate tax returns * Handling client queries and liaising with HMRC * Visiting client premises and occasionally supporting other office locations * Maintaining accurate personal time records and acting in line with our client charter What We’re Looking For We’re keen to hear from individuals who: * Have experience in preparing accounts and working with accounting software (CCH experience is a bonus) * Accountancy Practice experience is essential! * Are organised, detail-focused, and confident managing multiple priorities * Are comfortable working independently or as part of a team * Can communicate clearly and professionally with clients and colleagues * Are committed to continuous learning and supporting the success of others Why Join Us? * Supportive and approachable team culture * Variety of work – no two days are the same * Opportunities to work directly with clients and build lasting relationships * Flexible working arrangements considered * On-the-job learning and development support to help you progress your career * Other benefits include onsite free parking/good transport links (buses etc) * Permanent contract working between 8:30am and 5:00pm Monday to Friday.
