Founded in 2014, Sonus Events is a full-service AV and live event production company headquartered in Paisley with operations across Glasgow, Edinburgh, Manchester, Liverpool, and London. We deliver bespoke and packaged production solutions to corporate clients, agencies, brands, hotels, and venue partners - covering lighting, sound, audio-visual, set and stage design, power, rigging, video systems, and visual content, alongside in-house creative event design from concept through to execution.
Our work spans conferences, live events, award shows, sporting events, exhibitions, product launches, and private events. We've built our reputation on technical reliability and protecting our client's events from operational risk - making the Production Manager role central to everything we deliver.
The Role
This is a full‑time, on‑site role based at our Paisley HQ with regular travel to venues across Scotland. The Production Manager owns event delivery from pre‑production through to on‑site execution and post‑event debrief - acting as the technical lead, the on‑site decision‑maker, and the client's primary point of contact during delivery.
You will:
* Lead end‑to‑end production on conferences, live events, award shows, and brand activations
* Spec technical solutions across lighting, audio, video/AV, and rigging
* Manage on‑site crew (in‑house and freelance) and oversee load‑in, show, and load‑out
* Coordinate with suppliers, sub‑contractors, and venue technical teams
* Own production budgets, hire schedules, and resource allocation
* Maintain compliance with all relevant H&S regulations, including RAMS and venue documentation
* Liaise with clients from pre‑production through delivery
* Work alongside the sales and design teams to ensure proposals are technically deliverable
Please note: We are open to conversations with Experience Freelancers that may want to work on a contract bases.
What You Bring
* Strong working knowledge of professional AV - signal flow, video switching, and multi‑camera production (e.g. Panasonic AW‑UE‑series PTZ cameras, ATEM‑class switchers, vMix or comparable software)
* Experience speccing and operating presenter timing systems (e.g. Interspace CountDown Touch and equivalent), confidence monitors, and live streaming workflows
* Solid grasp of professional lighting (moving heads, desks) and live sound (digital consoles, line array systems)
* Familiarity with rigging principles, power calculation, and load distribution
* Comfortable reading and producing technical drawings (Vectorworks or similar preferred)
* Working knowledge of Resolume, projection systems, and LED video wall workflows is a plus
Operational and people skills
* Strong project management discipline — you can hold multiple events in flight without dropping detail
* Experience managing crew on‑site, including freelancers and sub‑contracted suppliers
* Commercial instinct around budget, margin, and resource utilisation
* Working knowledge of UK live‑event H&S (CDM, RAMS, PUWER, LOLER awareness)
Practical requirements
* Full UK driving licence
* Willing to work evenings, weekends, and travel as event schedules require
* Based within commuting distance of Paisley
* Professional experience over qualifications like degrees (we weigh experience heavily; the right portfolio of delivered events matters more than the certificate)
Why Sonus
