Caithness KLICS - Sessional Support Worker Job Description (term time only)
Requirements:
The applicant must hold a clean driving licence and be able to drive or be willing to train towards driving the KLICS vehicles / minibus. Full MIDAS training will be provided, if required.
Flexibility is key to this role.
Salary: £13.50 per hour
Hours: 12 hours per week, over Four days, to be discussed further at interview.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities:
1. To work closely with young carers during group activities and sessions.
2. Support drop-in sessions for young carers during school drop-in sessions.
3. Help create a fun and safe environment for young carers to come to.
4. Preparation and planning of activities and snacks for during group sessions.
5. To maintain confidentiality of service users and information relating to the service users.
6. Any other duties are reasonably required to fulfil the role.
7. Represent Caithness KLICS professionally both within and out with work.
Essential skills.
1. Experience in working with children and young people.
2. The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
3. The skill to listen to the needs and worries of the service users.


Responsibilities for Personal & Professional Development


1. Enhance own performance through continuously developing own knowledge, skills and behaviours to meet current and future requirements of the job.
2. Contribute to own personal development by participation in an annual appraisal with your line manager, developing a Personal Development Plan and actively participating in agreed learning activities.
3. Regularly review own practices and make changes in accordance with current and / or best practice, making suggestions to improve practice and identifying where other activities may affect own practice.
4. Achieve and demonstrate agreed standards of personal and professional development within agreed timescales.
General Duties


Safeguarding
All employees have a duty and responsibility to protect and safeguard children and vulnerable adults.
They must therefore be aware of child protection procedures and who to contact within Caithness KLICS for further help and guidance.
Data Protection, Confidentiality and Information Governance
The post holder must abide by all relevant Caithness KLICS departmental policies including information governance, confidentiality and data protection and undertake mandatory training.
The post holder is reminded that any breach of Caithness KLICS information governance and security policies and procedures, including data protection legislation, will result in disciplinary action.


The post holder must not for their own benefit or gain, or to divulge to any persons, firm or other organisation whatsoever, any confidential information belonging to Caithness KLICS or relating to Caithness KLICS affairs or dealings which may come to their knowledge during employment.
Health & Safety


Compliance with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974- the post holder is required to fulfil a proactive role towards the management of risk in all their actions.
This includes the risk assessment of all situations, the taking of appropriate actions and reporting of all incidents, near misses and hazards, and a statutory duty of care for their own personal safety and that of others who may be affected by their acts or omissions.
