Assistant Quantity Surveyor – Main Contractor
Location: Stevenage
Salary:£45 000 plus package

We are seeking a motivated and detail-driven Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join our commercial team. Working closely with the Project QS and Commercial Manager, you will support the delivery of high-quality projects across our growing portfolio. The role offers the opportunity to work and progress with top tier main contractor on a variaty of projects across education, commercial and mixed use schemes.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist in the preparation and management of cost plans, bills of quantities, and tender documents
* Support the commercial team in procurement, issuing enquiries, and evaluating subcontractor quotations
* Help manage valuations, variations, and payments
* Assist in monitoring project costs, forecasting, and reporting to ensure financial control
* Maintain accurate commercial documentation in line with company procedures
* Work collaboratively with site teams, subcontractors, and clients to maintain clear communication and strong working relationships
About You
* Degree/HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying or related discipline
* Ideally 1+ years’ experience with a main contractor or developer (graduates with placement experience also considered)
* Strong numeracy, organisation, and communication skills
* A proactive attitude with enthusiasm to learn and develop
* Knowledge of standard forms of contract (e.g., JCT/NEC) is desirable
* Full UK driving licence
