Specialist Pharmacist Fixed Term
NHS Golden Jubilee is a national institution within NHS Scotland, comprising the Golden Jubilee University National Hospital with centres of excellence in orthopaedics, ophthalmology, heart and lung services, and a major diagnostic imaging centre. It also hosts the NHS Scotland Academy, the national Centre for Sustainable Delivery, the Golden Jubilee Research Institute and the Golden Jubilee Conference Hotel. Its vision is "Delivering care through collaboration" for NHS Scotland.
The Pharmacy Department, within the Golden Jubilee National University Hospital, is integrated across multiple services. Pharmacists in this post will provide safe, effective and person‑centred care for every patient, every time. They will work in collaboration with a friendly pharmacy team and be an essential part of wider multidisciplinary teams. Our patient‑led approach encourages an ethos that is open, questioning and participative; everyone is encouraged to speak out and be actively involved in continuous improvement and innovation.
This is a great opportunity to work in a four‑pillar role in a dynamic team, with clinical practice time, education duties, and scope to develop your own research. Development will be provided through regular planned sessions linked to the RPS Core Advanced Practice portfolio.
You will be responsible for providing a full range of clinical pharmacy services and pharmaceutical care directly to thoracic, cardiac surgery, cardiology and orthopaedic surgery patients. You will also provide prescribing support to clinical staff to ensure safe, clinical and cost‑effective use of medicines, and ensure compliance with policies on medicines management and legislation.
Hours of work are 37 (reducing to 36 hours from April 2026) over 7 days. The post will include weekend working, public holidays and on‑call duties.
We support training and development opportunities and are willing to support independent prescribing and advanced practice.
