Job Description We have an opportunity for an experienced Health and Safety Manager here at Chemify and be part of a successful start-up with huge growth plans over the coming years. This vital role focuses on ensuring a safe working environment for all employees and visitors. The ideal candidate will be NEBOSH certified and have a strong background in health and safety within an bust synthetic Chemistry manufacturing/R&D laboratory environment. Day-to-day of the role: To develop, improve and implement the Company's Health, Safety and Environmental Policies and promote at all levels, ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation, standards and codes of practice. Ensure risk assessment process are established and maintained, driving priority actions to reduce risk profile with appropriate and effective contol measures. Lead the investigation of accidents and incidents. Review existing policies and measures, developing, prioritising and driving the company safety improvement plans Initiate and organise EHS training of employees and executives, including toolbox talks. Maintain and monitor safety training records through internal auditing. Inspect premises and the work of personnel to identify issues or non-conformity. Oversee installations, maintenance, disposal of substances, etc. Prepare reports on occurrences and provide statistical information to management. Contribute towards establishing and maintaining a programme of continuous improvement by investigating and analysing key trends, risks and issues and developing and implementing improvement initiatives. To support Chemify in embedding a positive health and safety culture. Develop and maintain strong and positive relationships with key stakeholders working in collaboration and maintain a thorough knowledge of the business and regulatory environment. To keep up to date with new EHS regulations and guidance and share learnings within Chemify. Essential skills and qualifications: Graduate in Science or Engineering with post graduate EHS experience within industry NEBOSH National Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety preferred. Demonstrable experience of having worked effectively in a Health and Safety role reducing risk and enhancing EHS management systems. In-depth knowledge of legislation, specifically in COSHH and Occupational Hygeine. Knowledge of potentially hazardous materials or practices. Proven health and safety experience operating in a high-risk sector. An ability to maintain confidentiality and trust. Adaptability, flexibility, and ability to cope with uncertainty and change. Outstanding organisational skills. Diligent with great attention to detail. Excellent communication skills with the ability to present and explain health and safety topics. Being able to work independently and prioritise. Experience in writing reports and policies for health and safety. Familiarity with conducting data analysis and reporting statistics. Proficient in MS Office; Working knowledge of safety management information systems is a plus. Desirable skills and qualifications: Lead Auditor for ISO45001 Occupational Health and Safety. Internal Auditor for Occupational Health and Safety. Behavioural Safety Training.
