Job Description
Develop your clinical skills within a supportive and specialist team
About Wheelfreedom
Wheelfreedom is a specialist provider of wheelchairs and seating solutions, based at our modern headquarters and showroom in Chessington. We combine clinical expertise, innovative products and a highly personalised service to help people achieve greater comfort, independence and quality of life.
We are passionate about delivering an outstanding level of care and service in an industry that has not always been known for this. Our work genuinely transforms lives, and we build long-term relationships with many of our clients over a number of years.
Wheelfreedom is a growing company of over 30 employees, and we pride ourselves on having a friendly, collaborative and supportive culture that is very different from many traditional healthcare environments.
The Role
This is an exciting opportunity for a Physiotherapist or Occupational Therapist looking to develop specialist skills in posture, seating and mobility assessment within a supportive and experienced team.
You will work alongside our clinical assessors carrying out wheelchair and seating assessments for clients with a wide range of mobility and postural needs. The role involves understanding each client’s functional goals, posture, comfort and pressure care needs in order to recommend appropriate seating and mobility solutions.
The position offers excellent opportunities for development. Initially, you will work with more straightforward cases while building your confidence, product knowledge and assessment skills. As your experience develops, you will have the opportunity to become involved in more advanced seating and postural assessments, supported by senior members of the team.
The role includes:
* Clinical assessment and posture evaluation
* Range of movement assessment and clinical reasoning
* Pressure care assessment and pressure mapping
* Prescription of wheelchairs and seating systems
* Working with bespoke and configurable seating solutions
* Building long-term relationships with clients and families
* Producing detailed recommendations and reports
Assessments are carried out both at our Chessington headquarters — including our showroom and private assessment facilities — and in clients’ homes and community settings.
A company vehicle is provided for work-related travel and commuting.
We also run Continuing Professional Development (CPD) courses for healthcare professionals, and there may be opportunities to become involved in supporting or delivering training as your experience grows.
Professional Development
We are committed to supporting clinicians who want to grow and develop specialist skills within a supportive environment.
You will benefit from:
* Structured support and mentorship from experienced assessors
* Gradual progression in clinical complexity and responsibility
* Hands-on learning and joint assessments
* Exposure to a wide range of client presentations and equipment
* Ongoing training in seating, mobility and posture management
* Opportunities to contribute to education and CPD activities
About You
We are looking for someone who:
* Is passionate about improving outcomes and quality of life for clients
* Enjoys building rapport and working closely with people
* Has strong communication and problem-solving skills
* Has an interest in posture, rehabilitation, seating or mobility
* Wants to develop within a specialist clinical field
* Will contribute positively to our friendly and supportive team culture
Applicants may be:
* HCPC-registered Physiotherapists or Occupational Therapists
* Early-career clinicians looking to specialise
* More experienced therapists seeking a new challenge or specialist area of practice
While this role may particularly suit a Band 5 clinician looking to develop specialist skills, we are ultimately looking for the right person and team fit, and would welcome applications from candidates with a broader range of experience levels.
Direct wheelchair experience is not essential, as training and support will be provided. Experience working with clients with physical disabilities, rehabilitation needs or postural challenges would be beneficial.
Applicants should ideally live within a reasonable commuting distance of Chessington and hold a full driving licence.
