Location: Sheffield – This is a hybrid role with a minimum of 3 days per week in the office.
We are looking for a Programme Officer to join us at South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority. Joining the Employment & Careers team on a permanent basis, you will work with local, regional, and national partners to shape, develop, and influence the implementation of programmes, building health support in employees and deliver skills needed for productivity and inclusive growth.

Key Responsibilities
* Support the development and delivery of employment and skills programmes (e.g., WorkWell, Connect to Work), ensuring alignment with strategic priorities and local needs.
* Assist in the preparation and maintenance of delivery plans, project documentation, and grant cost registers.
* Contribute to procurement and commissioning activities, including drafting specifications, coordinating processes, and liaising with providers.
* Support mobilisation and implementation phases, working with internal teams and external partners to ensure effective programme launch and delivery.
* Engage with stakeholders across local authorities, providers, and partners to support collaboration and information sharing.
* Review programme performance, budgets, and outputs, maintaining accurate records and highlighting risks or variances.
* Provide administrative and project support, including reporting, data analysis, and briefings for senior colleagues.
* Contribute to the ongoing review and improvement of programmes, identifying opportunities for development and sharing learning across the team.
About you
* You have experience of working within programme or project environments, with an understanding of employment, skills, or work and health agendas.
* You are confident working with a range of stakeholders, including local partners and service providers, and supporting engagement activities to ensure successful programme delivery.
* You demonstrate strong problem‑solving, organisational and communication skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and contribute to the smooth running of complex programmes.
* Experience of supporting partnership working, monitoring performance, and contributing to continuous improvement activities would be beneficial.
* You are comfortable working in a fast‑paced environment, using data and feedback to support programme development and maximise impact.
