Recognition of Prior Learning
RPL is a process for recognising learning from previous training, qualifications or experience
to avoid duplication of learning. It considers whether a Learner can demonstrate and prove
that they meet the assessment requirements for a unit through knowledge, understanding or
skills they already possess, and do not need to develop through a course of learning.
RPL must be:
• Valid
• Reliable
• Authentic
• Sufficient
• Current: i.e., completed within 3 years.
RPL should only be used as rationale for a reduction in contact/guided learning hours. The
Learner must still undertake assessments of all learning outcomes and criteria of the
qualification to gain an up-to-date qualification certificate.
Responsibilities and Duties:
• Complete Generalist Training to ensure the individual is capable of undertaking the
tasks outlined above and also to ensure operating standards.
• Keep a decent level of fitness, to be fit enough for duty appropriate to role. Some
operational tasks can require levels of physical endurance and strength to carry out
necessary tasks, e.g., Guardians, Medics, Auxiliary Fire.
• Respond to events, incidents, or emergencies as part of a Corps response, providing
support as necessary and within the bounds of the skills, knowledge, and qualifications
obtained.
• Support other members of the Corps in their activities and duties, inline with Corps'
policies, procedures, training, and regulations.
• Keep up to date with policies, procedures, training, and regulations.
• Assist communities in actively building resilience through planning and actions,
including engagement activities and possibly public speaking.
• Partake in fundraising activities and community projects, as part of the Corps' funding
requirements and community outreach strategy.
• Attend weekly Rally Point/Team meetings to build cohesiveness, undertake training,
exercise capabilities, fulfil any other Corps requirements, continue development and
local resilience. discuss JCAC agenda, progress and any necessary talking points for
the week.

leadership or training roles, subject to role availability.
