Responsibilities
* Provide a safe, clean, and happy home environment.
* Offer a warm, welcoming, and supportive family environment.
* Provide a comfortable bedroom and a spare bedroom suitable for student accommodation.
* Prepare meals and provide access to breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks throughout the day.
* Run two loads of the student’s clothes per week or allow use of laundry facilities.
* Provide access to wireless internet during the stay.
* Assist students with information and help on the local area and transport.
* Actively involve students in family dinners, games, outings, and everyday life.
* Care for the student as a member of the family, monitor their emotional well‑being and academic progress (especially for long‑stay or permanent residence).
* Help students feel settled and included in day‑to‑day family life.
* Support students’ wellbeing during their stay.
Required Homestay Amenities
* A clean, light, and comfortable room with a desk.
* Access to laundry facilities.
* Access to family areas, lounge/dining room.
* Access to a bathroom and toilet.
* Access to an outside area if possible.
Qualifications / Requirements
* Live in or near north Oxford OX2 6 or OX2 7.
* Have a spare bedroom available.
* Be willing to complete DBS and safeguarding checks.
* Offer a warm, welcoming, and supportive environment.
* Be reliable, organised and comfortable supporting young people from different cultures.
* Previous experience in education, healthcare, childcare or pastoral roles is beneficial but not essential.
* Show strong communication and reliability.
* Show sensitivity to different cultures and backgrounds.
* Demonstrate good organisational skills and a responsible approach to student welfare.
Benefits
All expenses are covered, and an attractive daily rate of £45–£60 per day is offered. You will receive training and support, and we will visit annually for follow‑up and questions. A 24‑hour emergency number is available to support you out of hours if needed.
Safeguarding and DBS Clearance
* Take a Level 1 certificate in safeguarding provided by the Oxford Safeguarding Board.
* By law, anyone engaged in working with children must have an enhanced DBS clearance. Oxford Guardians will pay £55 for the initial certificate, and you must enroll in the DBS online update service at a cost of £13 per annum.
* Complete registration procedures including a self‑declaration.
* Agree to report any safeguarding issue directly to the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL).
