Position: Project Controls Engineer
Location: Rugby
Salary: £60,000 - £65,000 DOE
Our client, a leading Engineering Service Provider managing high-profile FMCG and production contracts across the UK, is seeking a Project Controls Engineer to join their Midlands-based team. This is a hybrid role for someone who thrives on variety – combining electrical project delivery, control systems expertise, and project management.
A driving licence and willingness to travel is essential for this role, however home working will be available once fully inducted.
Overview
* Lead multi-site projects from start to finish, delivering on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
* Design, configure, and optimise control systems, including PLC, HMI, and SCADA software (Siemens or Allen Bradley).
* Prepare project quotations, manage budgets, schedules, and resources, and identify opportunities for efficiency.
* Oversee installation, commissioning, retrofits, and fault diagnosis of control panels and associated process equipment.
* Produce project documentation including RAMS, FDS, and other technical specifications.
* Supervise, mentor, and lead engineering teams and subcontractors, fostering high performance on site.
* Ensure all projects comply with health & safety regulations and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
* Degree, HND, or HNC in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).
* Proven experience in electrical project engineering and control systems/software development.
* Skilled in PLC programming (Siemens or Allen Bradley) and HMI/SCADA configuration (FTView, Wonderware, or equivalent).
* Electrical design experience (AutoCAD/EPlan desirable).
* Strong commercial project management skills – budgeting, scheduling, and resource planning.
* Experience within FMCG, pharmaceutical, or production environments.
* Health & safety qualifications (IOSH / NEBOSH / Managing Safely) desirable.
* 17th Edition Wiring Regulations and Inspection & Testing qualifications advantageous.
* Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to project sites.
