A growing and well-established civil engineering contractor with a turnover of approximately £40m is seeking an experienced Freelance Site Agent to support the delivery of a major highways upgrade project.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a reputable contractor with a strong pipeline of infrastructure work across highways and associated civils.
The Role
Reporting to the Project Manager, you will take responsibility for the day-to-day delivery of key sections of the scheme, ensuring works are completed safely, on programme, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
Project Scope
* Earthworks
* Drainage installation
* RC structures and associated civils
* Kerbing and paving
* Road construction and surfacing preparation
* Utilities coordination
* Traffic management interfaces
Key Responsibilities
* Managing site operations and subcontractors
* Ensuring health, safety, and environmental compliance
* Coordinating labour, plant, and materials
* Driving programme and productivity on site
* Liaising with engineers, clients, and stakeholders
* Reviewing RAMS, permits, and temporary works
* Maintaining quality assurance and site documentation
* Supporting commercial and programme reporting
Requirements
* Proven experience as a Site Agent on highways or major civils projects
* Strong background in earthworks, drainage, structures, and paving
* Excellent understanding of NEC contracts and site procedures
* SMSTS, CSCS, and First Aid certifications
* Ability to lead teams and manage subcontractors effectively
* Strong communication and organisational skills
